Black Ops 2 Coming This April?

April 20, 2012 in Games

Despite how hard Treyarch and Activision have worked to try and keep everything about Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 a complete secret, they’ve failed pretty impressively. First we found out that Black Ops 2 really is happening, and then we found out a huge amount of information about the multiplayer mode from a recent leak. Now we have a new possible leak to report. YouTube member CoDInform says that he came across the Black Ops 2 logo along with a supposed release date for the new game—April 28th. We don’t know where the logo was stumbled across, only that that’s the user who announced its discovery.

Once the information (or misinformation as it may well be) was circulated on the official CoD forums, it was pulled down straight away—standard procedure with leaks from what we’ve observed. We don’t have any confirmation yet as to whether the information is real; there has been no official comment from Treyarch or Activision. Good indicators that this might be real include the fact that April 28th was the release date for the original Black Ops game and the URL of the supposed image revealing the date matches the structure we’d expect to see based off of other Activision logo URLs. We do have to admit however that the release date of April 28th is perhaps a bit earlier than what we’d been expecting earlier. While we have long been confident that the game will come out this year, we were envisioning a bit later in the year. It’s certainly possible that April 28th is the real release date, however, especially in light of the first Black Ops game coming out then, so who knows—it could be sooner than we think. Time to start setting aside money for pre-order!

April 16, 2012 in Games

Little battlers is an exciting PSP game that allows players to engage in multiple games. The multiplayer game option features battles up to four players. There are several types of little battlers experience, the Battle Royale and the Team Battle match.  Battle Royale, the 1 vs. 3-anomaly battle is a game in which everyone is against you. There is also a 2-vs-2 battle experience. In order to engage successfully in the Team Battle match, it is crucial to be knowledgeable regarding your partner’s skills and movements. It is quite different from the single player game. Gaining knowledge about your partner’s capabilities could dictate your victory in the game. Wise division is also a major determining factor for your failure or victory while playing Little Battlers on PSP.

The multiplayer game is divided into ten stages. As you move up each game level, the battle becomes fiercer and your enemies become a lot stronger, making the game more challenging. Also, know that every stage has its own rules.  Little Battlers on PSP also features a ranking battle in which you are put in a combat against other players. The higher the rank, the more quality the parts you can get. Your rank goes higher as you defeat an LBX enemy.

How to Select Great Video Games For The Little Ones

March 9, 2012 in Games

Today, video and computer games are being played not just by the young ones but also by the young at heart. However, know that not all games sold today are suitable to be played by younger players, therefore, as parents, it is your responsibility to pick appropriate video or PC games for your kids. To aid you in purchasing decent video games intended to be played by kids, here are some tips to help.

  • Get game referrals from other parents. If you are not sure what games to buy for your kids, you can always ask your friends or family for good recommendations. Other parents are a good source of information when it comes to kid-friendly video or PC games.
  • Check the rating of the game you wish to purchase. Game ratings are made to help parents determine what video/PC game is appropriate or suitable to be played by their kids. Rating on game packages are assigned by a non-profit organization referred to as the The Entertainment Software Rating Board (also known as the SRB). You can see the ESRB ratings at the back of virtually every game packages.
  • Read game product reviews. Just like when scouring for lifestyle reviews, checking out reviews on the best video/PC games will help make the right selection.

It is natural that young kids would want games being played by older kids but it is important that you stand your ground. Don’t just give in to their every request and properly explain to them why games for older kids are not suitable for them. They might not understand right away but they will eventually.

Dragon Ball Game Strategies

December 30, 2011 in Game Strategy, Games

A significant number of online and video games based on the popular anime Dragon Ball have emerged in the market over the years. The popularity of Dragon Ball games can be attributed to the success of the Dragon Ball tv series, which was a hit not only in Japan but also in other parts of the world. Ask any kid who Gohan or Gokou is, and they will enthusiastically answer you that they are characters from the famed anime ‘Dragon Ball’.

Different versions of Dragon Ball games came out but what they have in common is there destructive environments, ability to pick players, their signature ‘pursuit attacks’, and of course their devastating strikes. Dragon Ball is basically a strategy game that would require players to boost their combat abilities to reach the ultimate level.

With over hundreds of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z games that were produced, it is really hard to list all of them. I was not much a fan of Dragon Ball video and online games but since my brothers love to play them it started to grow on me. We usually sit for hours in front of the television playing the battle mode.

Strategies used to gain the upper hand in the game vary greatly depending on what dragon ball game version you will be playing. For instance, if you are playing the Dragon Ball Z Final Tournament, you and your opponent will have to choose up to four players each. This is generally a three-player battle wherein they will all fight in a tournament arena. When the first character, from the team, is defeated the next chosen character will have to enter the arena and fight the winner from the opposing team. Each character will have two values – Endurance and Aura – that will appear on top of the screen. All you have to do is to defeat all the members of the opposing team by depleting their endurance which can be done by attacking them. When the character’s endurance reaches zero, the next character will replace and so on until the last player is left standing.

Those who do not own game consoles do not have to fret since there are now plenty of Dragon Ball and DBZ games that can now be accessed for free online. Like their video game predecessors, online Dragon Ball games are all strategy based. When playing DB games, you need to have superb mental ability and mind work. If not, you will be likely defeated in the game. The great thing about DB games is that you can come up with your own strategy depending on the character you are using and, of course, your fighting preference. Some players resort to getting cheats online, which can also be considered a strategy (a pretty smart one, actually!), in order to gain the upper hand in the game. However, I am not saying that you should cheat to win the game. It is still nice to win a DB battle fair and square, at least in my opinion.

A Brief History Of Anime Games

November 18, 2011 in Anime History, Games

The history of anime, in general, actually began during the early twentienth century. It all started when Japanese filmmakers started to analyze the animation techniques used in the West. By the 1970s, Japanese anime successfully separated itself from its Western roots, allowing Japanese to explore it further. During the exact same year, unique genres like Super Robot and Mecha were developed. Anime like Lupin III and Mazinger Z appeared on tv, and filmmakers Mamoru Oshii and Hayao Miyazaki gained great popularity.

By the eighties, anime was welcomed with open arms in the Japanese mainstream. Surge in anime production was also evident around this time, with famous anime like Space Opera, Dragon Ball, Gundam, Macross, and Real Robot setting the boom of animated tv series.

Over the succeeding years, more and more Japanese animators confidently released their own anime movies and tv shows. However, as animated tv series become popular, the anime movie market shrunk significantly due to intense competition from anime made for tv.

The success of anime in the tv and movie market presented the perfect opportunity for game developers to introduce everyone’s favorite anime in a game format. This marked the start of anime-based games. However, the sad truth is that, not all video games based from popular anime series are capable of surviving in a very tough gaming market. In fact, very few of them earn the success of the anime were they were based from, which is very unfortunate. Some of the anime-based games that gain a decent following include the Dragon Ball, Tekken, Final Fantasy, Inuyasha, Sakura Wars, Sonic the Hedgehog, Ranma ½, Pokemon and Digimon.

One of the oldest anime-based games conceived was the Final Fantasy series which was first introduced in 1987. It was Sakaguchi’s last effort in the gaming industry; fortunately the title became a real success which resulted to more sequels not only for the motion picture but also for the science fantasy role playing game.

The 2D game version of the popular anime Ranma ½, which is the first English-dubbed anime to be shown in the US, received mixed reviews when it was released in 1990. In 1993, the game version of Dragon Power entitled Street Combat did not make it alive in the market; however, the tv series was able to maintain a solid following.

In 1996, the video game version of the very successful anime series ‘Pokemon’ joined the list of anime-based games competing in this very cutthroat market. Owned and published by Nintendo, the Pokemon game was made by Satoshi Taijiri. It earned the merit as the 2nd most successful game franchise sold around the world. Pokemon was released in various gaming platforms, from Xbox, gameboy, playstation, and other popular game consoles.

Over the years, a number of video and even online games based on popular anime series emerge but not all rake in enough earnings to be considered successful.
